被排除的无证工人的工资补偿计划

为什么这很重要?

Ensuring undocumented workers have a safety net with a Wage Replacement Program if they experience job loss will ensure they can keep themselves, their families, and their communities afloat.

In 2025, our bill includes a dedicated revenue source using a diversion method that does not incur new costs to the employer or the state and does not come from the general fund. We are not asking for additional funding, but rather for the state to support a program for excluded workers to access funds that have already been allocated to them

Additionally, this program would be administered through a third party to maintain the privacy of undocumented workers and employers’ vital information and data, also making the program more cost-effective for the state.

The time is now to ensure undocumented workers are excluded no more. With the threat of mass deportations and workplace raids with the new federal administration, it is a pivotal juncture for the Washington State legislature to demonstrate their support and protection of our state’s most vulnerable workers.

Undocumented workers keep our economy strong, contribute to our communities, and care for our families. 1.2 million immigrant workers play a pivotal role in ensuring we all can thrive in Washington. They harvest the foods on our tables, maintain our hospitals, and provide childcare to our kids, and yet their exclusion from unemployment benefits leaves them without the support we all deserve as Washingtonians.
