Civil legal aid is free legal assistance to low and middle-income people, families, and communities with (non-criminal) civil legal problems.

This includes domestic violence, family law, governmental assistance and services, healthcare, housing and utilities, landlord/tenant issues, consumer & financial services, and workplace & employment issues, among others.

Paid Family and Medical Leave is a benefit for workers in Washington state who need to take time off from work because they are recovering from surgery, a serious illness, injury, or pregnancy; caring for an eligible family member with a serious health condition; bonding with a newborn, adopted, or foster child; or attending certain events connected to a family member’s active duty military service.

Washington employers are required to provide paid sick leave to all employees, regardless of immigration status. The city of Seattle also has a paid sick leave ordinance.
