Dear WAISN Members,
From its inception in 2016, the vision was for the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network (WAISN) to be a statewide network made up of individuals and organizations that would pay dues to be actively involved in immigrant justice and organizing.
Through this membership model, WAISN becomes financially sustainable and can support its members with resources such as: our Deportation Defense Hotline, WAISN’s database of immigrant-friendly resources via our Resource Finder, language justice tech equipment, immigration alerts and connection to our Rapid Response and Deportation Defense Networks, Accompaniment, Fair Fight Bond Fund, field events to organize and build power in our immigrant/migrant communities, access to Know Your Rights, Rapid Response, Deportation Defense, and organizing trainings, and regional and statewide policy and networking convenings accessible and at no-cost. All while working together to advance our mission.
Our membership model for organizations consists of a level system. The higher the level the more active the organization is in WAISN’s work. This provides a checks and balances model that allows individuals and organizations to be part of the network without centering a lone agenda.
With this process, our network aligns with WAISN's core values of joy, care, solidarity across differences, integrity, and accountability. We also take an opportunity to pledge commitment to continue our partnership in building relationships and grassroots power with Washingtonian immigrant and refugee communities while following a feminist, de-colonial, transnational, and intersectional analytical framework.
To become a member of the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network (WAISN), organizations must apply, demonstrate, and pledge to work in the best interest of immigrants through direct services, advocacy, organizing, or other means.
