Immigrant & Refugee Advocacy Day (IRAD)

February 7 @ 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM

On Wednesday Feb. 7, Sen. Rebecca Saldaña and Rep. My-Linh Thai will join the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network (WAISN) and hundreds of immigrants and allies for the 7th annual IRAD in support of WAISN’s 2024 immigrant justice campaigns: Health Equity for Immigrants to provide equal access to healthcare for all low-income Washingtonians, regardless of their immigration status, and Unemployment Insurance for Undocumented Workers to create a permanent, separate unemployment system that provides benefits to undocumented workers.

The Olympia City Council will also sign a proclamation designating February 7, 2024 as Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Day. WAISN firmly believes the right to healthcare and the right to a living wage are non negotiable rights, yet thousands of Washington immigrants’ lives are on the line working and living without access to healthcare and unemployment benefits because of their immigration status.

Headlined by Sen. Rebecca Saldaña, and Rep. My-Linh Thai, the Rally will include prominent immigrant justice champions and leaders sharing their experiences living and working without access to healthcare and unemployment insurance:
  • Brenda Rodriguez Lopez, Executive Director, WAISN
  • Senator Rebecca Saldaña (LD37)
  • Representative My-Linh Thai (LD41)
  • Danielle Alvarado, Executive Director, Working Washington
  • Andrea Soroko Naar, Co-founder, Jewish Coalition for Immigrant Justice NW
  • Mohamed Shidane, Deputy Director, Somali Health Board
  • Adrianna Suluai, Policy Director, UTOPIA Washington
  • Ruqaiyah Damrah, Digital Organizer, WAISN
  • Members of Washington state immigrant and refugee communities
